Advertising and public relations are multi-billion dollar industries that impact business, political and social arenas and continue to grow domestically as well as globally. The Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations offers students an opportunity for competitive success within a dynamic advertising and public relations environment by helping them develop skills to assess a broad range of international perspectives, develop innovative approaches and implement creative designs.
The Advertising and PR major is intended for students who seek positions such as copywriters, art directors, media planners, account executives, public relations specialists and strategic planners. Students may also enter careers in business, marketing and the non-profit sector.
In working for various advertising and public relations firms locally, nationally and internationally, students in the Advertising and PR major focus on social media strategies, event marketing, public relations, advertising and account management. Students are eligible to participate in industry-related internships and professional organizations, such as the Gold Coast PR Council and the Public Relations Student Society of America gaining valuable hands-on experience as a gateway to successful careers in advertising and public relations.
