Hospitality Management

The hospitality management industry is one that is viable in both active and reduced economic conditions. This major offers students interested in obtaining careers in this industry a professionally oriented curriculum that focuses on the key principles of hotel and restaurant operations, resort management, event and facilities management, and business and financial management, integrating general education competencies into the course work.

Sports Management

For sports management students in the college, learning begins in the classroom – and continues in the real world of the sports industries. With a focus on practical knowledge in sports business, law and marketing, the curriculum centers on active, experiential learning. Each year, students in the program work at some of the biggest sporting events in the world, such as the NCAA Final Four, Super Bowl, ESPN X Games and the World Cup soccer, gaining invaluable insight into the business of sports.

Hospitality Management

The evening undergraduate program offers the flexibility of taking courses in the evening and online.

Hospitality Management

The hospitality management program at the graduate level is an M.B.A. specialization offered through the College of Business and Management that focuses on the principles of resort management with a particular reference to the social, economic and environmental issues involved in the industry, providing an integrated approach to the marketing, operational, and human aspects of managing a service business.

Sports and Athletics Administration

The sports and athletics administration program at the graduate level is an M.B.A. specialization offered through the College of Business and Management that focuses on the principles the critical issues of national interest in both collegiate and professional sports, with an emphasis on the application of management theory and practice in sports administration.

Undergraduate Certificate Programs

Undergraduate certificate programs are designed for both experienced professionals in the restaurant, hotel and travel industries who want to strengthen their background and for individuals with no previous exposure to this field. The following specialized certificates are offered to current Lynn students and those not actively seeking a degree:

Workshops and Seminars

The college offers a variety of learning experiences in addition to its academic degree programs to both Lynn students and the local community. Workshops on the latest practices in the hospitality industry, cooking classes, wine classes and others are taught by subject-matter experts to guide participants through the learning process. The workshops and seminars offered by the college informative, insightful, and often entertaining, and are offered on campus throughout the year.

International Opportunities

Academic Programs Abroad

Faculty members regularly organize and lead academic programs abroad, giving students a firsthand look at how their area of interest can be applied in different countries and cultures. With study tours providing such opportunities as meeting with hotel executives in China, seeing the world-class ski resorts in Switzerland, exploring the tourism industry in Peru, or volunteering at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, hospitality students have a wide variety of international programs to choose from in the college.

Affiliated Academic Partnership Abroad

The College of Hospitality Management has created a Lynn “Switzerland Program” in conjunction with the Swiss hotel management school DCT University Center that provides students based in Switzerland the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree, delivered partially via distance learning as well as through class sessions conducted on site in Lucerne throughout the year. Participating Lynn faculty teach a range of courses offered specifically for students in residence at DCT’s campus.

DCT is located in one of Europe’s best-known and most-visited tourism destinations, renowned for the quality of hospitality practitioners and programs. The Switzerland Program expands and enhances opportunities for Lynn hospitality students enrolled in the United States to study and work abroad, giving them access to an expanded selection of related academic program abroad experiences.
