This prestigious program focuses on developing individual artistry through exposure to all studios and faculty over the course of the degree. Weekly studio classes and our semi-public Performance Forum provide ample performance opportunity for assignments that are thoughtfully made, addressing individual strengths and repertoire deficiencies.
Because of our intimate size we are able to create chamber groups for each student, for every semester of their degree. Each group will follow a structured rehearsal schedule with weekly coachings and a required performance. Collaborative pianists also have the opportunity to perform in various large ensembles and the New Music Festival.
Outside of Practicum, which includes collaborations on instrumental recitals, the cornerstone of the P.P.C. is the three required recitals designed by you to reflect your personal interests and specializations. One of these is a full chamber program which provides the opportunity to perform large scale chamber works.
The P.P.C. is a program which allows for complete focus on improving your performance abilities. To strengthen your artistry as a collaborative pianist, the innovative two-part Seminar in the Collaborative Arts provides a platform for discussion of important stylistic performance issues of each instrument with special attention given to the preparation of orchestral realizations, art song and score reading.
