This is a four-year program of study for students of piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, French horn, trombone, bass trombone, tuba or percussion. The curriculum for this major combines courses in advanced music performance, music academics, music skills and general academics and prepares students both for employment in the professional world and to continue their education at the graduate level.

Students in the B.M. program only participate in the Foundational Stage—the first two years—of the Dialogues of Learning curriculum.

During their course of study, students in the B.M. program are required to take, once each, the following January Term seminars: Music Entrepreneurship, Music Technology and World Music.
