Lynn University’s big event – its 50th Anniversary Weekend celebration – just got even bigger with the addition of Passion Pit live in concert on Saturday, March 23 at 8 p.m., on the soccer field on Lynn’s campus.

2012 was a monumental year for Passion Pit, with their sophomore album Gossamer debuting at #4 on the Billboard’s Top 200 and yielding Passion Pit’s first top 5 alternative single with “Take A Walk.”  Additionally, Passion Pit performed “Take A Walk” and debuted the band’s follow-up single “Carried Away” on Saturday Night Live last fall. The band's songs have been used recently in the new Twilight movie and a national TV spot for Taco Bell.

Passion Pit fulfilled a dream in February by performing a headlining show to 14,000 people at Madison Square Garden (in the middle of a snowstorm, no less). The band’s monumental day was captured in a “Day in The Life” piece by Rolling Stone, who trailed Michael Angelakos as he prepared for the biggest sold-out show of the band’s career. Following what Rolling Stone called a “tight and triumphant” performance at Madison Square Garden, the band returned to their hometown of Boston, Mass. for a sold-out performance at the 6,000 capacity Agganis Arena.

On Valentine's Day, the band released the official music video for "Carried Away," starring Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos and actress Sophia Bush. The music video was shot in Los Angeles and tells the story of a love/hate relationship through a playful Godard-inspired narrative that follows the couple throughout their home.

The Passion Pit concert is open to the public; tickets are $25 for anyone with a current student ID (limit of two tickets per student and they are available only in person at the Lynn University Box Office); $50 for General Admission tickets (seating for Student and General Admission tickets is festival-style on the lawn); and $75 for Preferred Seating which includes padded chairs, access to a tented area, private restrooms and cash-only bar). To order tickets (other than student tickets), call the box office at 561- 237-9000 or go online at www.lynn.edu/tickets. The concert will be held rain or shine; all ticket sales are final.

The addition of Passion Pit live in concert to the events of the 2012-2013 school year at Lynn University continues the streak of making this the most exciting and eventful year to date in the university’s history.
