August 31, 2009 marked the first day of class for Lynn’s class of 2013 – a class that is notable for its international flavor, individual member’s accomplishments and its academic excellence.
The class is made up of students from more than 40 U.S. states (including 115 from Florida) and 45 countries. As President Kevin M. Ross noted in his remarks at the annual Welcome Convocation for the class Sunday evening, its members include a Junior Olympian in swimming, students from three countries of the former Yugoslavia (Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia) and Lynn’s first student from the Republic of San Marino in Italy (the world’s first sovereign state and constitutional republic organized in 301 A.D.). The class also is remarkable for its diversity, with approximately 29 percent of the class being of color.
But it is in the classroom where this group truly shines. The average SAT scores for the class are 27 points above the class of 2012 and 53 points above the class of 2011.
