U.S. News and World Report recognized Lynn University for having some of the best online degree programs in the country. Lynn is among the top 200 schools recognized for its online bachelor degree programs and its graduate business and education programs.

This is the second year U.S. News & World Report has released the rankings for best online programs. Lynn University was also featured on the 2013 list for Best Online Bachelor's programs, Best Online Graduate Business Programs and Best Online Graduate Education Programs.

In September, U.S. News and World Report will also release the rankings for “America’s Best Colleges,” which last year moved Lynn University up from its “Regional Universities” list to its “National Universities” list, ranking Lynn among the top 268 schools in the country.

Lynn University offers the following degree programs online

  • Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice
  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology
  • Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management
  • Master of Science in Administration - Criminal Justice Administration
  • Master of Science in Administration - Emergency Planning Administration
  • Master of Business Administration - Aviation Management
  • Master of Business Administration - Financial Valuation and Investment Management
  • Master of Business Administration - Hospitality Management
  • Master of Business Administration - International Business
  • Master of Business Administration - Marketing
  • Master of Business Administration - Sports and Athletics Administration
  • Graduate Certificate in Emergency Planning and Administration

How Rankings Are Determined

U.S. News and World Report determines the rankings through a lengthy process. First, the organization compiles a list of schools offering online degree programs, and then collects data from these schools.

Each school that was ranked for Best Online Degree Programs: Bachelor’s was weighted in four categories:

  • Student engagement (40% of the ranking)
  • Faculty credentials and training (20% of the ranking)
  • Student services and technology (20% of the ranking)
  • Peer reputation (20% of the ranking)

For the Best Online Degree Programs: Business (Graduate), each school was weighted in the following five categories:

  • Student engagement (33% of the ranking )
  • Admissions selectivity (20% of the ranking)
  • Peer reputation (20% of the ranking)
  • Faculty credentials and training (13.5% of the ranking)
  • Student services and technology (13.5% of the ranking)

For the Best Online Degree Programs: Education (Graduate), each school was weighted in the following five categories:

  • Student engagement (35% of the ranking )
  • Student services and technology (20% of the ranking)
  • Admissions selectivity (15% of the ranking)
  • Faculty credentials and training (15% of the ranking)
  • Peer reputation (15% of the ranking)

Lynn University's director of graduate and evening admission, Steve Pruitt, said the university is seeing an increased interest in the online degree program. "Our focus is to provide a very positive, high quality experience for Lynn online students, by offering a very personalized, interactive learning environment and courses taught by industry experienced faculty," said Pruitt.

Lynn University has been offering online degree programs since 2003.
