Lynn University announces co-chairs for 2012 presidential debate planning committee

Lynn University announced Jason Walton, chief of staff, and Gregory Malfitano, senior vice president of administration, as the co-chairs of the university’s 2012 presidential debate planning committee.
The committee will oversee all of the university’s efforts related to the debate including curriculum development, student activities, community events, facilities preparation, volunteer management and a variety of other activities leading up to the Oct. 22 event.
“As co-chairs, Jason and Greg will work together to ensure that our debate preparation activities are tightly coordinated with our on- and off-campus- related programing,” Lynn University President Kevin M. Ross said.

Jason Walton has been involved with the debate since the beginning. He oversaw the creation of the school’s application to the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) and organized university and community leadership for the first official visit by CPD staff. He has also been a key figure in bringing in other elected officials and local leaders, including the school’s hosting of the debate between Allen West and Ron Klein for one of Florida’s congressional seats.
Greg Malfitano has been with Lynn University for over 35 years and was also involved in the early steps of bringing the debate to the school. His team provided information about the physical spaces and facilities available for the event. He has overseen nearly every aspect of the school’s operations including the construction of the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, site of the presidential debate, development and approval of the school’s master plan and the current expansion of the school’s entrances (part of the approved master plan).
