Lynn offers 16 new majors to incoming freshmen

Freshmen starting Lynn University this fall (September 2013) will be greeted with new academic offerings – including 16 new majors and five new/revised minors recently approved by Lynn’s Board of Trustees.
“We are offering new majors in all four colleges,” Gregg Cox, vice president of academic affairs, said. “These majors will not only help students prepare for life after Lynn, but they approach 21st century education in a refreshing and exciting way. Focused on experiential learning, Lynn’s majors bring real-world knowledge into the classrooms.”
New major highlights
Students majoring in Forensic Science within Lynn’s College of Arts and Sciences will study physical, social and behavioral sciences. In addition, they will learn how to recognize, collect and preserve evidence left behind at a crime scene.
Students majoring in Entrepreneurship within Lynn’s College of Business and Management will work directly with local organizations to optimize business plans while taking courses that teach students how to be creative, innovative and, ultimately, how to be his or her own boss.
Independent Schools Elementary Education
Students majoring in Independent Schools Elementary Education within Lynn’s Donald E. and Helen L. Ross College of Education will have the unique opportunity to participate in a teacher prep program designed specifically to train and prepare students to teach grades Kindergarten through six in non-public (i.e.: independent, private, charter, boarding or international schools) settings.
Communication and Emerging Media
Students majoring in Communication and Emerging Media within Lynn’s Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn College of International Communication will take courses about existing and emerging technologies – including the impact social media has had (and will have) on the way people communicate.
