The evening of Oct. 22, the night of the third and final presidential debate, Lynn University was seen in the homes of more than 59 million viewers, according to the Neilson ratings. However, in the months leading up to the Lynn debate, university officials were often asked: “Where’s Lynn University? I’ve never heard of it before.”
As Michael Stratford of the Chronicle of Higher Education wrote, "As hordes of reporters and politicians descended on Lynn University for Monday night’s debate, it seemed likely that at least a few of them quipped about the small private institution’s relative obscurity."
In anticipation of this question, Lynn President Kevin M. Ross came up with the slogan: “We’ve Never Heard of You, Either,” which the marketing office designed on the debate’s most in-demand t-shirt.
“Lynn,” who is turning 50 this year and is the youngest school in modern history to ever host a debate, “often suffers from newness,” said Ross. “We want people to know about us.”
