“Shore Couture” spring fashion show hits the runway next week

Lynn University’s fashion management students are hosting their 10th annual spring fashion show on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m., in the Louis and Anne Green Center on campus. The student-produced show, titled “Shore Couture,” will highlight beachside ensembles appropriate from sun-up to sun-down. Twelve students in Lisa Dandeo’s 300-level fashion events management class are charged with producing, directing, staging and marketing the show.

"Our Spring Fashion Show is the major annual event for our students," said Dandeo, associate professor in Lynn's College of Business and Management and coordinator of the fashion and retail program. “Producing a runway show of this size requires a lot more than regular class time from these students; it requires commitment, passion and dedication"

FashionThe student-produced show will feature a number of firsts for the annual program including an ambitious  boardwalk-style runway; the incorporation of fashionable ensembles (featuring 3 former fashion program graduates who now own their own clothing companies and fashion design labels) student, faculty and staff models; as well as local area vendors who will  define four different favorite south florida locations. The show will feature clothing that defines South Florida style including The Boca Beach club, Palm Beach Prep, Worth Avenue Woman and the Heat of Miami.

Additionally, the fashion and retail program, along with admission will host their second annual high school fashion experience, as well as feature designs from six local Olympic Heights High School fashion academy students. The evening for over 50 high school students will begin with a presentations from admissions, as well as the opportunity to network with current fashion program graduates. The evening will also feature a keynote speaker and backstage access to Shore Couture.  During the show, the designs of the students will be featured in a special scene where they will be recognized for their design inspiration and creativity.

The spring fashion show is open to the public. General admission tickets are $10. V.I.P. tickets (include premier seating, appetizers prepared by Lynn’s hospitality club and swag bags) are $20. Will-call tickets can be reserved by calling 561-237-7011.

There will also be a silent auction including several different hotel getaways (10-day stay in Cabo San Lucas, weekend stay in Miami, 4 nights at any Hilton Hotel, weekend stay at the Waldorf Astoria in Boca Raton), spa packages, travelpro luggage set and high end couture items, just to name a few.  All ticket sales, the silent auction and raffle proceeds will benefit the Fashion and Retail Program.
