Adirondack Experience

Although Lynn University is most commonly associated with the beaches and coastline of tropical South Florida, Lynn uniquely offers students the ultimate “first-year experience” - a six-day group dynamic in one of the most beautiful outdoor recreational areas in the world, the Adirondack mountains. The Lynn University Adirondack Experience operates from a base camp in the historic village of Lake Placid, N.Y. This base camp is situated in the six million-acre Adirondack Park in central New York.

The Lynn University Adirondack Experience is an incredible pre-orientation program for first-year students to learn not only about Lynn, but about one another and themselves. The Lynn Adirondack Experience is designed to ease students’ transition to college life. Breathtaking mountains and pristine lakes provide the backdrop for a variety of activities, workshops and team building opportunities. The trip demands a commitment and sense of enthusiasm from every student and is structured to emphasize personal success and community awareness, promote responsibility and communication, and develop life skills such as confidence, leadership, goal setting and problem solving.

The Lynn Adirondack Experience requires individual motivation, responsibility and a sense of community, but also emphasizes group dynamics. It is a way to explore the peaceful outdoors, while gaining respect for others and developing an understanding of the value of cooperation and teamwork.

The Adirondacks provide a special opportunity for experiential learning while living in camping cabins and enjoying the outdoors. As part of a team of students led by university leaders, participants will support each other in activities, get acquainted with the university staff and develop lifelong friendships, all in preparation for becoming part of a greater college community.
