Professional Profile
Laura McCallister began her teaching career as a learning specialist at the Center for Instruction at Palm Beach Community College shortly after receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics degree from Florida Atlantic University in 1992. While there, McCallister taught courses in Basic Algebra, College Algebra and designed and taught a course for students who needed to pass the College Level Academic Skills Test. Working at the community college provided her with the opportunity to discover many different techniques to help improve the achievement for students of all levels and learning styles.
After earning a Master of Science in Teaching Mathematics from Florida Atlantic University in 1997, she went on to teach for four years at Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach, Florida. There she taught courses for students in the International Baccalaureate program and sponsored the Math Honor society. After teaching in the K-12 A. D. Henderson University School, McCallister came to Lynn University.
