David Schapiro’s professional experience started at a young age when he began working in the hotel business during summer breaks. Over the years he has accumulated experience by working in four- and five-star properties in both the back and front of house. This experience includes hotels in Las Vegas, Palm Beach and Coral Gables.
In addition, Schapiro has been responsible for operating large restaurant changes and has been a key player in the design, pre-opening and opening of large restaurant operations.

David Schapiro's teaching philosophy is to ensure students have a foundation of theories and principles that they can then apply when they graduate from Lynn University. In class, he uses theory as a base, and through in-class demonstration and hands-on experiences, students can learn the essentials of being a hospitality “expert.” His classes allow for critical thinking through research projects and essay writing. By using current articles, news reports and research journals that are applicable to the hospitality industry, students have an understanding of our ever-changing industry, and they have current knowledge of where the industry stands, and where it is going.
